Media Scrap book on WASH published (06 May 12) With a need to the role of media in improving the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) situation across the South Asia region, a media scrap book comprising the regional stories on WASH in South Asia has been published.
3rd Groundwater Resources Symposium (28 Mar 12) The National Symposium on Challenges and Opportunities for Sustainable Management of Groundwater Resources of the Kathmandu Valley concluded with the need to formulate the groundwater management policies and act to control the excessive groundwater extraction inside the valley.
Linking Sanitation to Agriculture (28 Mar 12) Participants of the seminar on ‘Linking Sanitation to Agriculture’ stressed on the need to increase learning and sharing among practitioners in order to scale up application of human urine in agriculture.
Training on Decentralised Wastewater Treatment Systems for Engineers (14 Mar 12) Environment and Public Health Organization (ENPHO) with support from BORDA and CDD Society is organizing a 5-day Training on Decentralised Wastewater Treatment Systems (DEWATS) for Engineers from 13th May 2012 at CHRDU/DWSS in Bhaktapur, Nepal.
NWA decided to use WASH-RCNN’s web portal and E-Bulletin (29 Feb 12) Nepal WASH Alliance (NWA) decided to use WASH-RCNN’s website and electronic bulletin to publish its news and features and promote learning and sharing in the WASH sector.
WASH professionals shared their experiences at Regional Workshop in Dhaka (03 Feb 12) WASH professionals from South Asia shared their experiences on sanitation and hygiene research and practices at Regional Sanitation and Hygiene Practitioners’ Workshop in Dhaka, Bangladesh from 31 Jan to 2 Feb 2012.
Nine media persons awarded with Drinking Water and Sanitation Communication Encouragement 2011 (03 Feb 12) Nine journalists active in reporting on drinking water and sanitation issues have been awarded by the government jointly with Water for Asian Cities Programme of UN-Habitat and GUTHI.
WASH-RCNN formally registered (29 Dec 11) Water, Sanitation and Hygiene-Resource Centre Network Nepal (WASH-RCNN) has been formally registered at the District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu in December 2011.
Training Workshop on Information Management (29 Dec 11) The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene-Resource Centre Network Nepal (WASH-RCNN) in association with Nepal Library Association (NLA) organised a training workshop on Information Management for decentralised WASH Resource Centres from 25-27 December 2011. Eleven participants responsible for managing decentralised WASH Resource Centres participated in the training.
Off-track, off-target report launched (28 Nov 11) WaterAid in Nepal in association with Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Lalitpur Sub Metropolitan City, End Water Poverty and the National Federation of Disabled Nepal on November 18, 2011 launched the ‘Off-track, off target’ Report and host the Nepal Crisis Talks on the sanitation crisis.
